Pedro Mattar, known as Pedrinho Mattar, (São Paulo, August 20, 1936 - Santos, February 7, 2007) was a Brazilian pianist.

His family called him Pedrinho for being the youngest of ten siblings. Son of Lebanese began to study piano very early in the school of Magda Tagliaferro. He attended with his father Trianon Restaurant, tea house on Avenida Paulista, where he played the piano live. He began his studies in classical piano only in 1962. An uncommon artist with an uncommon sopranino voice, Ney Matogrosso fell in the Brazilian popular music scene like a bomb in the '70s aboard the Secos e Molhados. The end of the group marked the beginning of a fertile and successful solo career in which he began exploring his sensuous and charismatic persona through satiric and ironic repertories. As time passed, he substituted self-contained and deeply sensitive interpretations of classics for the popular and classical Brazilian music. Along with his representative and prolific solo discography, for which he received three platinum and three gold records, Matogrosso recorded in Itália with Astor Piazzola, performed in Argentina, Uruguay, participated in two Montreux Jazz Festivals (Switzerland), and toured Portugal several times. He also performed in Israel and the U.S., but always refused invitations to develop an international career. Sidney Magal is one of the most visible names of the brega style of music. Unlike most other performers in this field, he manages to be accepted by sophisticated audiences, who -- taken with his exaggerated, caricatured Latin-lover style -- disguise their admiration as a sort of a tongue-in-cheek appreciation. Having first starred in soap operas, Magal became one of the most successful brega artists in the '70s, achieving fame in 1976 with "Se te Agarro com Outro te Mato," followed by "Meu Sangue Ferve por Você." In the next year he had a success with "Amante Latino" (Rabito/Antônio Carlos). The Orchestra Tabajara is an Brazilian popular orchestra. Founded in 1934 in the city of João Pessoa (Paraíba), the orchestra is currently active in Rio de Janeiro.

Severino Araújo de Oliveira (Limoeiro, April 23, 1917) is Brazilian musician, composer, conductor and clarinetist. the Tabajara Orchestra’s conductor, who took over with 21 years of age.

Severino Araújo’s father was master of banda in Limoeiro (PE), and who was given the rudiments of music. A child, adopted the clarinet as a favorite. In the 30s he moved to João Pessoa, which was clarinetist in the band the Police. In 1936 wrote the cry "Spine of Cod," one of his most famous compositions. Also in Paraíba, was conductor of the orchestra of Radio Tabajara, with some members of it left for Rio de Janeiro in the late 30th Only in 1945 the orchestra officially adopted the Rio de Janeiro as its headquarters. Based on North American big bands, the orchestra encourages dancing, parties and gaff from the 40s until today, totaling more than 13 thousand presentations. Besides acting in dances and parties, the Orchestra Tabajara worked in broadcast radio. With great popularity, the orchestra recorded over 100 discs of 78 rpm, breaking records for longevity, and support the work of singers like Jamelão, who recorded two albums, tributes to Lupicínio Rodrigues. During the existence of the Circo Voador in Rio de Janeiro, the Tabajara was the attraction of traditional Sundays, with Sunday Flying. The repertoire consists of both classical and jazz song of the U.S. as the themes of Brazilian music. Nelson Ned built a solid career as a singer and composer of sentimental, suffering songs. His recordings have been released in America, Europe, and Africa, and he has received gold records both in Brazil and abroad. His compositions have been recorded by the likes of Mantovani and Matt Monroe; in Brazil he had his songs recorded by Moacir Franco, Antônio Marcos, and Agnaldo Timóteo. In 1968, he recorded for the first time; the song was his own composition (with Hamilton Gouveia Bastos) "Tamanho Não É Documento" (loosely, "Size Doesn't Matter," an allusion to his small stature). In the same year, he won the I Festival de la Canción (Buenos Aires, Argentina) with his "Tudo Passará." In 1969, when he was already very popular in Brazil, he started to sing internationally, performing in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Africa. His international performances included four shows at Carnegie Hall, two at Madison Square Garden, and mega-events in Mexico. After his conversion in 1993, he has only recorded evangelic songs.

Having had a promising beginning as one of the big voices of MPB, Simone has recorded more than 31 albums, increasingly abandoning the more activist repertory of compositions by João Bosco/Aldir Blanc, Geraldo Vandré, Chico Buarque, and Milton Nascimento in favor of mainstream romantic songs, with which she has enjoyed international success.

Daughter of an opera singer and a female pianist, Simone moved to São Paulo at 16, pursuing a career as a basketball player (she even was a member of the national team). She recorded her first LP, Simone, in 1973. She was invited by Hermínio Bello de Carvalho to perform in Brussels, Belgium, and Paris, France, and recorded the live albums Simone et Roberto Ribeiro Avec João de Aquino à Bruxelles and Expo-Som 73 - Ao Vivo - Márcia, Leny Andrade, Simone, e Ary Vilela. Next came a tour through the U.S. and Canada. With João de Aquino, recording the live album Festabrasil - Simone e João de Aquino. The second LP came in 1975, Quatro Paredes, having hits with songs by João Bosco/Aldir Blanc. The first big radio hits were "Jura Secreta" (Sueli Costa/Abel Silva) and "Face a Face" (Sueli Costa/Cacaso). In 1976, she recorded "O Que Será" (Chico Buarque), which was the theme of Cacá Diegues's film Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos. She had "Cigarra" (of the homonymous LP, of 1978) written specially for her by Milton Nascimento/Fernando Brant. In 1979, she had her greatest hit with "Começar de Novo" (Ivan Lins/Vitor Martins), which was included in the Malu Mulher TV Globo series. The song was included in the Pedaços LP, which also had "Tô Voltando" (Maurício Tapajós/Paulo César Pinheiro), a representative song of the period of the end of the military regimen and of the advent of political amnesty. In 1980, she re-recorded another political song, the pacifist anthem "Pra Não Dizer Que Não Falei Das Flores" (Geraldo Vandré). She was the first artist to do so, as the song had been censored until then. She was the first singer to pack a stadium (Maracanãzinho) in 1981. In 1982, she brought 15,000 people each night to the Morumbi stadium (São Paulo). Simone was hired by the American CBS, recorded in the U.S, in the same year, being praised by critics. In that period, marked by huge success, she had hits with "Alma" (Sueli Costa/Abel Silva), "Tô Que Tô" (Kleiton/Kledir), "Um Desejo Só Não Basta" (Francisco Casaverde/Fausto Nilo), "Você é Real," and "Iolanda" (Pablo Milanéz/Chico Buarque). She released Café Com Leite in 1996; the CD was dedicated to Martinho da Vila's compositions, with the author sharing the track "Ex-Amor" with her.

Simone has continued to perform regularly in Brazil, Portugal, and the U.S. In 1997, she was included in the Sony Music Celebridades da MPB (MPB Celebrities) series (sharing the privilege with Ângela Maria, Sílvio Caldas, and Cauby Peixoto, with a four-CD box commemorating 25 years of her career (one year in advance). Los Indios Tabajaras are two guitar playing brothers from northern Brazil.

Their beginnings are not clear, though most stories have them becoming accomplished guitar players after finding a guitar near Ceará, Brazil. Playing in Rio de Janeiro, they found success as Natalicio and Antenor Lima - dressing in ceremonial Indian costumes. Using classical guitars and playing transcriptions of classical violin and piano works, they were soon playing all over South America.

Probably as early as 1943, RCA’s Latin American arm signed them to a recording contract. In the early 1950s, they took a break from performing and went back to study the guitar. After returning to the stage later that same decade, they released an album in the United States on an RCA-owned label named Vox.

Throughout this period, they had a steady stream of releases on RCA in Mexico and one of these, a Mexican folk tune named “María Elena” (Lorenzo Barcelata; named after the wife of a Mexican president and recorded in 1958), became a steady seller, a success throughout Latin America and was finally re-released in the U.S. in 1962. It spent 14 weeks in the U.S. Top 10 and had similar success in the United Kingdom. Los Indios Tabajaras continued to tour throughout the Americas and Europe and in 1964 they had another release, “Always in My Heart”. This failed to replicate the success of “Maria Elena” though it did make the Billboard Hot 100.

Their fluent guitar playing caught the ear of Chet Atkins and, along with pianist Floyd Cramer, they recorded an instrumental album in Nashville, Tennessee. They also recorded and released material with singer Don Gibson, including the song “Oh Lonesome Me”.

RCA released albums by Los Indios Tabajaras into the 1980s. Though Antenor retired from performing, Natalicio Lima continued to perform into the 1990s with his wife, Michiko. ~ Read more from Wiki
